Sauvie Island School
I am the library, communications, and technology specialist at Sauvie Island School. In this role, I am responsible for designing and implementing content and systems utilizing a communications strategy that aligns with the school's brand. This work includes web design, print/layout design and illustrating (inforgraphic/posters, presentations, newsletter illustrations, etc.), user research, social media management, and more.
As the communications specialist, I design, edit, and organize content used in school communications. I mostly use Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and the Google Suite to create and collaborate on content. I also have established and maintained different systems to make everyone's life easier. I do this by utilizing content management systems and automation. Examples include an automated student enrollment system I set up in February, a biweekly Mailchimp newsletter, a WordPress site, and Hootsuite for social management.
As the technology specialist, I troubleshoot, maintain, manage, repair, and order all technology utilized by students and staff (iPads, laptops, printers, projectors, etc.).
As the library teacher, I teach daily library lessons to grades k-8, organize, research, and order books, and manage the circulation of our catalog. I also write grants to bolster our library's book budget. In these ways, I share my love of books, creative writing, and design with students. Reading a good picture book to kindergartners is always a welcome break from working on a persistent technical problem!

I manage the school's WordPress website, collaborating with administrators and teachers to write and design content. I utilize user feedback to ensure the web content I design is presented in both an aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly way.

Utilizing Mailchimp, I organize, edit, and design a biweekly newsletter in English and Spanish.
I am currently working with students to produce a student literary magazine called Polite Tide. I will be posting pictures of the finished project here when it's ready.
Before I began working at Sauvie Island School, they reached out with the need for a quality video illustrating their response to distance learning for parents and students during the 2020 school year. I created this motion graphic video with several custom illustrations and a high-quality voice-over reading the script I wrote based on the main points of the school's distance learning plan.
